Connecting to The Source Through the Text-Only Telnet Option
Telnet access is much faster than Web access, primarily because there are no graphics to load and you don't have to switch between the mouse and the keyboard. However, it is somewhat less intuitive because all commands are represented by single-letter codes listed at the bottom of each screen.
In order to use this interface, your Web browser has to be configured to run Telnet applications. If the link at the beginning of this paragraph works for you, then you can use the Telnet interface. You'll also need to know the following in order to enter the catalog:
- When asked for a login, type library.
- When asked what kind of terminal you are using, type V (for VT100).
