Introduction
Although many people are familiar with the works of James A. Michener, author of phenomenally popular books such as Centennial, Chesapeake, Hawaii and Tales of the South Pacific, few know much about the man himself. James A. Michener: the Man, the Writer, the Legacy at the University of Northern Colorado is the centennial celebration of Michener's birth. This commemoration will explore not only the works of Michener and his contribution to American literature, but also the gifted and complicated man behind that ubiquitous “row of solid books.”
